The Periyar Lake is often also referred to as the Thekkady Lake. One of the most famous lakes in Kerala is in Periyar. Hotels nearby serve mostly rice plates during this peak hours. Due to this during lunch time you hardly get seats at the nearby restaurants and will not have much varieties to order. Since it was a holiday time for kids, the zoo was very much crowded. Most of hotels around the zoo are vegetarian. So you can easily go to your van or car at the parking lot. Good thing is that the exit gate is leading directly to car parking. Most of the people get exhausted at exit, so probably we won't go back to the place for refund. On exiting the zoo, show these bottles and get refund. On entering zoo, you need to pay refundable deposit of ₹10 for every plastic bottles you have and they will label it. Battery car is also available for which you need to take ticket after getting entry ticket.

I had visited in end Apr 2022 on a Sunday. You will get the Maggi shops while going up and with that, you might get a few fried rice and murmuri and many more things. And while going above you will feel the weather. To go up It has total of 450 to 500 steps which will take 20mins to 30mins approx. The caves at the top of the Mullayanagiri hills are not so deep and have an entrance that directly leads you to the temple’s garbhagudi. The old Kannada literature, however, relates the term ‘Mullai’ to the forests. This is the reason why the peak got its present identity. This place is a spectacular attraction in Chikmagalur also known for its jaw-dropping natural beauty.Īccording to the regional mythology, Tapasvi Mullappa Swamy observed meditation for years at the cave on top of the Mullayanagiri peak.

The perfect time to visit this is in the month of September to February. You should go to this place in the early morning. It's 30km approx from the main city(IG Park). Mullayanagiri Peak is the highest peak in Karnataka and its approx 6400 feet above sea level. One can easily access each and every cave and the view from the top is scenric.Vist the place in the early half.Highly recommended and PLEASE DON'T LITTER and write on the walls. Toilet is clean however the sole cafeteria at the caves should be totally avoided as we had misal pav which was bland and not at all tasty. The entire caves area is well maintained and there are security personnel who are quite helpful and are stationed at every caves entrance. The park opens for general public at 8.00am prior to that only the morning joggers who have the membership are allowed.Due to covid, boating, safari as well as toy train was closed. There are Best buses plying to the kanheri caves as well as couple of Omni vans. One can take rented bicycles outside the park as well as inside as private vehicles are not allowed and the parking charges are ₹200/-(not at all recommended to hike the entire stretch as it will tire you unless and until you are a professional)there is an entry fee for the caves.as well as charges for photography.
